UNIFORM INFORMATION
Where to Buy:
Metuchen Christian Academy, as most other private schools, has a standard uniform. To maintain uniformity, this clothing must be ordered by the Flynn O’Hara Company by mail or purchased at their Hazlet store. Samples of the uniform may be seen at the school office along with price lists and order forms.

Boys’ Uniforms:
Our boys wear a solid (no emblem) white or blue oxford long or short sleeve shirts, turtlenecks or three-button pullovers with collars. Pants are navy trouser style slacks; navy or black socks only. All shirts must be tightly tucked in with either a black, brown, or navy belt to be visibly worn with pants. Pants are not to be rolled up or cuffed. Boys’ hair must be neatly trimmed to the top of the ear, off the collar and away from the face; ponytails, braids, and bleached or dyed hair are not allowed. Boys’ faces must be cleanly shaven. Sideburns may not extend below the center of the ear. Earrings and large chains are not allowed. No body piercing! Head or neck bandanas are not allowed.
On Fridays for Chapel: The boys are required to wear an oxford shirt with a uniform plaid tie. On MCA day only, students will be allowed to wear their MCA sweatshirt or T-shirt, with a collared shirt underneath. The boys are not required to wear ties if they are wearing their MCA shirts, however, if they are not wearing their MCA shirts, then they must wear an oxford shirt and tie.
Girls’ Uniforms:
K- 4th Grade Girls: Blue/gray plaid jumpers with solid (no emblems) white or blue Peter Pan style blouse, long or short sleeves, three-button knit pullover with collars or turtlenecks. Girls must wear white or gray crew socks, knee-high socks or tights.
5th- 8th Grade Girls: Blue/gray plaid pleated skirts with a solid (no emblem) white or blue oxford style blouse, long or short sleeves, three-button knit pullovers with collars or turtlenecks. Girls’ skirts and jumpers must be knee length. Blouses must be tightly tucked into the waistband of the skirt. Girls must wear white or gray crew socks, knee-high socks or tights.
All girls may wear navy trouser style pants with the above style blouses and colors, or with the three-button pullovers with collar. All shirts must be tightly tucked in with either a black, brown, or navy belt to be visibly worn with the pants. Pants may not be rolled up or cuffed. All navy pants must be worn with navy or black crew socks only!
On Fridays for Chapel, all girls must wear jumpers or skirts. On MCA days only, students will be allowed to wear their MCA sweatshirt or T-shirt. The girls will still be required to wear their jumpers or skirts with the MCA shirts.
Make-Up/ Jewelry/ Accessories:
Only pastel shades of lipstick and nail polish will be permitted in pink, coral, or natural tones. No mascara, eye shadows, artificial fingernails, or acrylic coated nails (exception 8th grade graduation ceremony only). Rub-ons or tattoos are not allowed. Bleached or dyed hair is not allowed. Head or neck bandanas are not allowed. All jewelry must be in moderation in size, style, and quantity. Large, dangling earrings, which touch the shoulder, are not allowed. Pierced ears are the only body piercing allowed.
Sweaters:
Sweaters for all students will be gray cardigans, V-neck pullovers and sweater vests embroidered with the school logo bought at Flynn O'Hara. Jackets or flannel shirts may not be worn in the classroom, only MCA sweaters!
T-Shirts:
Only plain white T-shirts are allowed under all shirts, blouses, and turtlenecks. Absolutely no printed T-shirts allowed underneath any tops.
Shoe Requirements:
Low cut cushioned dark brown, black, or navy shoes, white black or navy trim saddle shoes, or low cut black or white athletic shoes. NO HIGH TOP OR PLATFROM SNEAKERS, SHOES, BOOTS OR SANDALS (OPEN TOED SHOES) OR SLIP-ON SHOES OR SNEAKERS (this includes all work style work boot soled shoes or cowboy boots!) The soles of all shoes must be cushioned. All athletic shoes must have tied laces. Winter boots may be worn to school in inclement weather, but students must change into appropriate school shoes while indoors. Please note: For you child’s safety, athletic shoes must be worn for gym in order for your child to participate.
